The Black Lipstick

Way back, at the start of Punk, you couldnt buy black lipstick you had to get creative and make your own black lipstick look. I remember at the dawn of Punk using black eyeliner or kohl and finishing it off with a slick of lip gloss (cherry flavour). It played havoc with the lips!

You dont have to do that now.

Yes - it's a 70s thing

Back in the 50s actresses wore black lipstick in horror films but for real life it came onto the scene in the late 70s and remained popular well into the 90s becoming a central part of Punk and Goth subculture.
